‘Echoes of the Foot-Hills’ is not the only known Mechanics’ Institute book to make it through the 1906 catastrophe. Cooper said another volume, ‘Marriages, Rights, Customs and Ceremonies’, also survived and remained in circulation until 2001. Still, the return of Echoes of the Foot-Hills has a different emotional pull because it disappeared for generations before finding its way back.
