A 26-year-old software employee from Telangana drowned accidentally at Sokuleru View Point near Tulasipaka village under Chintur Mandal on Tuesday. The deceased, Kosuru Nilesh, had visited Maredumilli and nearby tourist spots along with his friends Mohammed and Hemanth.
According to police, the trio reached Sokuleru View Point around 11:30 am. While Nilesh was taking photographs among the rocks in the stream, he accidentally slipped into the water and drowned.
On receiving information, Chintur Circle Inspector C.H. Gopalakrishna, Motugudem SI Abdul Nasir Hussain, along with their teams and SDRF personnel, reached the spot and launched search operations. Motugudem police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Police have urged tourists visiting waterfalls, streams, rivers and other tourist spots during the monsoon to exercise extreme caution and avoid entering water, climbing slippery rocks or swimming in areas where the depth is unknown.
