Ola Electric will soon roll out an electric scooter for gig workers in India. Gig workers are independent freelancers or contractors who are paid for per task instead of having a permanent, or a full-time job. According to a report from PTI, the Bengaluru-based EV maker has received regulatory clearance, and the approval (revealed through a government certification filing), suggests the company could launch the commercial scooter within the next few months. While Ola is yet to make any official announcement, the company’s move to enter commercial segment marks a notable step. This means Ola will now sell more electric vehicles that are not just for people to use personally. Since food delivery and online shopping are becoming very popular in cities, Ola’s new EV targeted for gig workers can help in lowering down running costs as well as reduce emissions.
