Crowd management is the hardest part of a day like this, and this one was not without trouble. The gathering was largely peaceful, but in pockets, tempers were clearly running hot as the stalemate dragged. Some began pulling at the barricades, flinging iron frames around as though they were cardboard – with enough force to have injured someone easily. The police pushed back with a mild lathi-charge, and what followed was an all-out verbal scuffle between cops and protesters. We picked our way through it and kept moving. In the middle of all this, there were a few who were busy making reels — steady hands, good angles, and the protest reduced to a backdrop.
