Iranian officials have indicated that negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict may have entered a critical phase, with Tehran claiming that a memorandum of understanding brokered through Pakistan has been completed and presented for American consideration. According to an Iranian official speaking to Al Jazeera, the proposed framework addresses several of the most contentious issues that have fuelled months of confrontation, including ending hostilities, lifting blockades, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the withdrawal of US military forces from the region.
