“The age of your parents and the world they grew up in has expired,” she wrote, pointing towards the growing financial independence and social empowerment of women today. She stressed that marriage should no longer be seen as a survival mechanism for women or an institution where one partner is expected to lose their individuality in order to maintain peace within a family. “Girls don’t need marriage for survival,” Dogra said, adding that companionship should never come at the cost of self-respect, freedom or emotional well-being.
