Since the Indian Premier League (IPL) started in 2008, Saransh is only the third player (second in Test cricket) to make his debut for India before playing a match in the cash-rich league. The only other players to achieve the feat are former Indian opener Murli Vijay and pace-bowling legend Mohammed Shami. Overall, there have been 122 debutants (did not play any format before) for India in international cricket since the inaugural edition of the IPL, but these three stand out as unique outliers.
