Sharmila Dhankar and Shilpa K Shyla made India proud by winning gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the Women’s Shot Put F57 final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Monday (July 27). Sharmila clinched the gold with her season-best throw of 9.81m. Courtesy of her medal, India ended their 20-year-wait for a medal in Para Athletics at the CWG. Shilpa gave her best and came up with her personal best throw of 7.26m to finish on the podium. Interestingly, Shilpa didn’t finish in the top three initially. She finished fourth, thus missing out on a medal.
