Judge Stops Trump From Renaming The Kennedy Center…For Now

Cooper went back to 1964 to make his case. That was the year Congress deliberately changed the building’s original name, the National Cultural Center, to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Beyond just the name, Congress had also taken specific steps to ensure that no other memorial-style dedication would appear anywhere on the building’s public spaces. Putting Trump’s name on the facade, the judge wrote, went directly against what Congress had clearly intended.
