The Cockroch Janta Party on Thursday rejected the Centre’s proposal to hold talks at Union minister JP Nadda’s residence or office, insisting that any meeting must take place either at the protest site or at a neutral venue.
Addressing the media, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka claimed that the government was unwilling to come to Jantar Mantar because it feared the anger of the people at the protest site.
“Now Union Minister Jitendra Singh is saying that the meeting can be held at Nadda ji’s residence or office. The citizens have rejected that proposal. If the government wants to talk, the meeting should be held either at Jantar Mantar or at any neutral place,” Ranka said.
Stating that the protesters were unwilling to accept what they described as “fake promises” from the government, Ranka said, “This time, we do not want assurances without action. If the government is meeting us, we want something concrete. They should either accept some of our demands or clearly specify the timeline within which they will be fulfilled.”
The remarks come amid a standoff between the protesters and the Centre over the venue and terms of dialogue, with the demonstrators maintaining that the negotiations must be meaningful and backed by tangible commitments.
