In a shocking update from the sets of God Of War, actor Ryan Hurst has suffered an injury while filming the upcoming fantasy series. For those unaware, the show is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and a multi-season order has already been confirmed. Led by showrunner Ronald D Moore, the series will adapt the 2018 Norse saga. However, there is disappointing news for fans eagerly awaiting the show. It is set to undergo recasting following Hurst’s accident. Reportedly, this development could even push the release to next year.

God Of War Actor Ryan Hurst INJURED

According to reports, actor Ryan Hurst, who was originally chosen to play the lead character Kratos, suffered an injury during the filming of God Of War. He reportedly sustained a bicep tear while performing a stunt on the Vancouver set.

The accident took place in June. He later underwent surgery and is currently recovering.

The injury came as a setback after months of preparation and filming. The actor, currently seen in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, had been preparing for the physically demanding role for a while. Reportedly, he had undergone a major transformation and gained around 40 pounds of muscle. However, the actor will no longer play iconic warrior Kratos.

God Of War Update! Kratos To Be Recast

According to a report by Deadline, the production on God Of War was paused following the accident and remains temporarily halted.

Sources suggest that Hurst’s long recovery led to the difficult decision to bring in a new actor. The report also states that the lengthy rehabilitation period could not align with the show’s planned filming schedule.

Now, the show is expected to restart preparations soon, with production reportedly planned to resume later this year.

The first two seasons were scheduled to be filmed back-to-back, and the creators are likely to stick to the plan. Notably, four episodes had already been shot before the injury. They will reportedly be filmed again with the new actor stepping into the role of Kratos.
