Addressing reporters, Mitra launched a sharp attack on the party leadership, particularly targeting Abhishek Banerjee. He claimed that he had suggested Abhishek step aside temporarily to allow the party to regroup and rebuild. “I had asked him to step aside for six months or a year so we could strengthen the party. After that, he could return and take charge again. But he refused,” Mitra said.
