Ather Energy will unveil the EL-01, its first mass-market electric scooter on August 29 at Ather Community Day in Bengaluru with an expected price between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh. This is also the first model built on Ather’s newly developed EL platform, a separate underlying architecture from the one powering its existing Rizta and 450 series scooters. For Indian buyers, this matters because Ather has so far competed mainly in the premium electric scooter segment and a sub-Rs 1.25 lakh model would put it in direct contention with TVS, Bajaj and Ola’s more affordable offerings.
