Three Ex-TMC MPs File Nominations as BJP Candidates for Rajya Sabha From West Bengal

In a major political development in West Bengal, three former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MPs have again filed nominations for Rajya Sabha, but this time from the BJP. Three of them joined the BJP on Thursday, and in the very same evening, within hours of joining the party, all of them got nominations as BJP candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-polls. Sushmita Dev – former TMC Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson,Sukhendu Sekhar Ray – former TMC Rajya Sabha MP andPrakash Chik Baraik – former TMC Rajya Sabha MP had resigned from Rajya Sabha membership as well as the TMC party last month.They were formally inducted into the BJP at the party’s Salt Lake headquarters in the presence of West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya.Soon after the induction, the BJP’s Central Election Committee named them as the party’s nominees for the July 24 Rajya Sabha bypolls to the three seats vacated by their resignations.
