It was a heartbreaking moment for football fans the world over as Brazil’s all-time leading scorer Neymar, announced his retirement from international football, within moments of his team being knocked off the currently ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 series. It was a poignant and bittersweet moment for the world renowned athlete, who managed to score the one goal against Norway’s 2, both landed by Norwegian front man Erling Haaland. Unfortunately though, this was Neymar’s last World Cup goal, rounding off his goal track record for the Senior Brazilian National Team to a stellar 80. Neymar never won a World Cup, but over the years, has accumulated a fanbase that’s strongly loyal to him – all gutted as the footballer broke down in tears on the match’s close.
