A rare visual treat from Lonavala has taken social media by storm after a video surfaced showing Mumbai’s skyline faintly visible from Shivling Point, sparking conversations about unusually clear weather conditions across the region.

The clip, shared on X by user Jayesh Waghmare, opens with scenic views from Shivling Point before slowly zooming toward the horizon, where the distant outline of Mumbai’s skyscrapers can be seen beyond the Sahyadri ranges.

Sharing the video, Waghmare wrote, “AQI so low today due to early showers – could see Mumbai Skyline from Shivling point, Lonavala.”

The footage quickly went viral, crossing 95,000 views within hours and leaving users surprised by the rare visibility. Many reacted with disbelief and admiration, with comments such as “Oh my word!! That is amazing,” “What… seriously?” and “Ohh wow… is it for real.”

The unusual sight comes as Mumbai and surrounding regions experienced a shift in weather conditions following a period of delayed monsoon activity. On Monday (June 22), the city woke up to cloudy skies and widespread rainfall, raising hopes of stronger monsoon progress.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, with rainfall expected to continue throughout the day.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by moderate to heavy rainfall and winds reaching 30–40 kmph in isolated areas over the next few hours, advising residents to stay cautious.

As per the IMD, Mumbai and Thane are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning, moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph in isolated areas. Palghar is also likely to see light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and winds of around 30–40 kmph in certain locations.

Meanwhile, early morning showers were reported across several parts of Mumbai, with residents sharing visuals from areas including Breach Candy, Mira Road, and South Mumbai, as dark clouds blanketed much of the city skyline.
