As women, many of us have encountered our own versions of this dynamic in workplaces dominated by men. Okay, it’s not a Trump, but with a boss, a colleague, a client or someone who believes that authority belongs more naturally to men than it does to women. Too often, women are expected to absorb the slight, smile politely and move on. We are told to be confident, but not too confident. Assertive, but not intimidating. Strong, but not threatening.
