A large industrial fire at a tyre recycling facility in South Gate sent thick black smoke billowing across parts of the Los Angeles area on Sunday, prompting shelter-in-place orders for nearby residents. The Los Angeles County Fire Department said crews responded at about 14:40 local time to reports of a blaze at a facility in the 11800 block of Industrial Avenue.
