Maharashtra RTO Starts Marathi Language Checks For Auto, Taxi Drivers – What If They Fail?

The Maharashtra transport department has started checking auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers’ working knowledge of Marathi from Thursday (August 20). In Mumbai, Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials launched a checking drive outside Dadar Railway Station. Officials are checking drivers to see if they can communicate in Marathi as required under the state government’s new rules.
