In an interview with Zoom, Sharad Devarajan shared that he read the Mahabharat growing up and found that the timeless tale tells us so much about the profound truths of humanity. He explained, “It’s often told through the eyes of the victors, but the character I could never stop thinking about was Karna. Growing up and reading it, here’s a man born with nothing, in a world determined to deny him, whose skill alone everybody should be celebrating as the greatest warrior of his age. But yet at every turn, the world asks not the question of, what can you do, but rather who’s your father? So most adaptations, I think, have really told that whole epic, and Karna is just one thread in that vast tapestry.”
