A large second-alarm fire was reported Wednesday at the 5300 block of E Street SE in Southeast Washington, D.C., after flames at a three-story apartment building spread to a neighboring structure.

The DC Fire and EMS Department said the incident was initially reported as a working fire, with smoke and flames visible from the roof eaves of the apartment building. The response was later upgraded to a second alarm after the fire extended to an adjacent building.
Fire officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported.
The DC Fire and EMS Department has also established a media staging area at the intersection of E Street SE and Southern Avenue SE. Officials said a media briefing is expected within one hour as firefighting operations continue.
