hundreds of us troops sent to texas border amid cartel violence reports

Hundreds of US troops have been deployed to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas as reports of cartel violence continue along the US-Mexico border, the US Northern Command confirmed on Friday.

The deployment is part of a new military operation, known as Operation Unified Response, aimed at rapidly reinforcing US forces and federal agents operating in the region.

US Northern Command said the operation would strengthen border security operations, improve the military’s ability to respond to threats and support federal law enforcement agencies working along the Rio Grande.

The operation will also increase patrol capacity and reinforce key areas, while providing additional monitoring and detection capabilities, according to the command.

The troops will further support the security of critical locations and assist the Department of Homeland Security and US Customs and Border Protection, US Northern Command said.

The deployment comes amid continued reports of cartel violence and security concerns along the US-Mexico border. The latest operation expands the military presence in the Rio Grande Valley as federal agencies continue border security activities in the region.

US Northern Command described the deployment as a measure to rapidly reinforce existing personnel and federal law enforcement partners rather than a standalone border security effort.

The command said Operation Unified Response is intended to improve the ability of US forces and federal agencies to respond to potential threats while strengthening surveillance and patrol operations.

The latest deployment adds another layer of military support to the ongoing federal effort to secure the southern US border.
