Student and youth groups announced a protest at Jantar Mantar on Gandhi Jayanti, demanding that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign. Jantar Mantar, mind you, is the one place in Delhi officially set aside for protest. The police refused permission. Water cannons were rolled out at the site. Metro gates were shut at stations including Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House and New Delhi.
