President Droupadi Murmu has given assent to the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code (UCC), 2026, clearing the way for the implementation of a common civil law framework governing marriage, divorce, succession and live-in relationships in the state. The Bill had been passed by the Gujarat Assembly earlier this year and was subsequently sent for Presidential approval. The President’s assent to the Gujarat Uniform Civil Code Bill, 2026, is listed on the Rashtrapati Bhavan website.
