Pike, 50, remained alive after receiving two doses of the lethal drug pentobarbital during the execution at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Her attorneys said she remained conscious and had a heartbeat after the injections. She was later transported to an off-site medical facility and was receiving life-saving medical care.
