Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team will be eyeing to seal the series when they come out to play the West Indies in Guwahati for the second ODI. India easily chased down a target of 296 in the first ODI, winning by eight wickets with up to 50 balls remaining thanks to an incredible 139 not out off 88 balls from Virat Kohli and captain Shubman Gill’s 110 in 108 balls. After the West Indies got off to a great start, Kuldeep Yadav led the way in keeping them below 300 before Kohli and Gill’s performance stole the show. Figures of 4/40 were returned by the spinner. It is unclear if India will bench Mohammed Siraj for the second ODI to allow Nitish Kumar Reddy more playing time. In the first ODI, Reddy bowled five overs and returned with the stats of 1/45.
The performance of seasoned former captain Rohit Sharma will be the main focus in the meantime. With 32 runs in 35 balls, Rohit had given the Indian pursuit a solid start.
