The Delhi Police registered an FIR on Monday against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jarnail Singh, accusing him of obstructing government work, after a slapping incident involving Delhi minister Parvesh Verma in Tilak Nagar on Sunday. Against PWD Minister Verma, who was caught on camera slapping a young man for filming his inspection, the police have taken what they describe as “legal action”: a non-cognisable report (NCR), not an FIR. That means the MLA who came to show off bad roads faces a first information report, while the minister seen hitting a man faces only the lightest entry in the police register – by the Delhi Police rule book.
