The Royals is undergoing yet another major change behind the scenes. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Bhumi Pednekkar would exit the series after the first season as the Netflix series is moving in a new creative direction. In May 2026, Darlings director Jasmeet K Reen stepped into the second season of The Royals after Season 1 director Nupur Asthana had prior commitments. Now, Jasmeet has left the production after just three days, and Heeramandi co-director Mitakshara Kumar has been chosen to replace her. The second season, which features several returning stars, including Ishaan Khatter, is currently under production.
