New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday (September 24) threatened a nationwide agitation if Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar does not resign within 48 hours. Launching a scathing attack on Kumar over the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, called him an “anti-national”.

Apart from the CEC’s resignation, the CJP also called for criminal proceedings against him. It even demanded that the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls be frozen and the repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners.

Abhijeet Dipk Slams Gyanesh Kumar:

Dipke accused the CEC of undermining democracy and questioned the process of deciding who can vote. He demanded Kumar’s immediate resignation, alleging that the Election Commission had “turned the entire concept of democracy upside down.”

“Chief Election Commissioner is the biggest anti-national. Gyanesh Kumar is the biggest anti-national of this country. He should resign immediately because he is the biggest threat to India’s democracy. What did democracy mean in our country? Democracy meant that the people would elect the government,” the CJP founder said.

Dipke further alleged that there was a pattern of voter deletions to target opposition leaders after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He claimed that several regional leaders who united during the polls were subsequently defeated after large numbers of votes were deleted.

“The BJP could not achieve a majority in the 2024 elections. The panic button was pressed when they failed to achieve a majority. They had come down to 240 seats after raising the slogan of ‘400 paar’. After that, they realised that the mood of the country was changing, and the regional forces had emerged very strongly,” the CJP founder stated.

Dipke cited examples from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Delhi while questioning the circumstances surrounding the electoral defeats.

“Whether it was Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra, the NCP, M K Stalin, Pinarayi Vijayan, Arvind Kejriwal or Mamata Banerjee, all these Chief Ministers have been defeated one by one. This cannot be a coincidence. You can see a pattern. All these Chief Ministers had come together and campaigned unitedly in 2024. How have they been eliminated one by one?” he said.

“In West Bengal, 50,000 votes are deleted from Mamata Banerjee’s seat, and she loses by around 15,000 votes. One lakh votes are deleted from M K Stalin’s seat, and he loses by around 45,000 votes. In Delhi, 40,000 votes are deleted from Arvind Kejriwal’s seat, and he loses by around 4,000–5,000 votes,” Dipke further added.

Later in an X post, Dipke also said, “are you ready for Jantar Mantar 2.0 ? If resignation doesn’t come within 48 hours.”

About The Entire Controversy:

A political row erupted after the Indian Express report flagging dissent within the poll panel over the SIR exercise. As per the report, two Election Commissioners, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, had red-flagged issues relating to deletion of names under the of electoral rolls and raised objections to the decision-making process 14 times in the past few months.

Reacting to it, the EC has asserted that differing views and observations are a normal part of deliberation in any institution and all its orders “are an outcome of the unanimous decisions of the full Commission in the past one year”.

However, ECI officials have said that the poll body was unanimous in its decisions related to the pan-India SIR of voters’ list.
