A petition in the Bombay High Court has sought quashing orders taken by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and restoring all the deleted voters in Maharashtra during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The plea in the Kolharpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has been filed after media reports claimed that the two Election Commissioners flagged objections on certain decisions taken by the poll body related to the SIR, including deletion of voters, Form 6, among others. Ever since these reports have surfaced, the opposition has been training guns against the government, demanding sacking, impeachment, and arrest of Gyanesh Kumar, saying that alleged revelations have dented people’s confidence in the electoral process.
