Google Chrome users in India need to be careful as the government’s cybersecurity agency CERT-In has issued a serious warning over multiple vulnerabilities found in the browser. The security flaws can allow hackers to access sensitive information, run malicious code or even take control of the affected computer.
The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), in its latest vulnerability note issued on September 24, has warned about multiple security issues in Google Chrome for Desktop. The vulnerabilities affect Chrome versions before 153.0.8010.52/.53 on Windows and Mac, while Linux users running versions before 153.0.8010.52 are also affected.
“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google chrome for Desktop which could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, obtain sensitive information, perform spoofing attack, bypass security restrictions or cause denial of service (DoS) conditions on the targeted system,” CERT-In said in its latest advisory.
According to the cybersecurity team, the vulnerabilities have been found in several Chrome components, including PDFium, Extensions, WebGL, Skia, FileSystem, Omnibox, Permissions and DataTransfer.
The issues include buffer overflow, incorrect authorisation, improper security checks and other vulnerabilities.
How Can Hackers Attack Chrome Users?
CERT-In said hackers could exploit these flaws by tricking users into opening a specially created web request. If the attack is successful, hackers will be able to run harmful code, access sensitive information, bypass security checks, carry out spoofing attacks on the computer.
They have rated the risk as high and advised Chrome users and organisations to install the latest security update from Google.

The US-based tech giant has released an update to fix these security issues. Users should update Chrome as soon as possible.
