The incident dates back to December 4, 2023, when the police employee, Dhirendranath Mahato, was deployed for duty near Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata. According to Mahato’s statement, a mobile toilet van stationed near the residence of party’s national general secretary was causing an unpleasant smell, prompting complaints from local residents. As the situation began to escalate, he went to the spot to help manage the situation. At the time, the driver of the mobile toilet van was reportedly not present. Mahato said he attempted to move the vehicle himself. While trying to reverse it, he accidentally shifted into reverse gear, causing the vehicle to hit the guardrail installed near the entrance of the residence.
