OpenAI said the advisory group will operate independently of the company. It said members will not be paid by OpenAI and will have the freedom to offer advice without being asked, publicly comment on the company’s impact on mathematics and make their advice public. The group will not, however, advise OpenAI on how quickly it should advance its internal mathematics research.
