India won their first gold at the Asian Games 2026 as the women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs to defend the medal. India were the favourites to win the title, and they played like champions, a team that is a few levels above the rest. India defeated Japan in the quarterfinal, beat Bangladesh in the semifinal and then thrashed Sri Lanka. The Women in Blue also won the Asia Cup recently.
