The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is all set to replace ceiling fans in student hostel rooms with wall-mounted ones, with the first batch arriving on campus this week. The move comes days after the death of Sahil Wakode, a second-year student, in his hostel room on September 18. IIT Bombay officials, however, said the ceiling fan replacement is part of a larger hostel renovation project that had already been planned and is not a response to the recent tragedy.
