Michael P. Desronvil, the holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, has reportedly spoken about his conservative political views amid intense online backlash. The 48-year-old allegedly believes he may be getting targeted because he is a Black Republican, according to YouTuber Ray Marcel, who says he spoke with Desronvil in an off-camera interview.
Desronvil triggered a hung jury after refusing to join the other 11 jurors in finding Lindsay Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. The high-profile case ended in a mistrial after seven days of deliberations.
Is Michael Péguy Desronvil MAGA?
Michael P. Desronvil has been described as a Republican with conservative views and a supporter of President Donald Trump. However, the information available does not establish whether he officially identifies as MAGA, short for “Make America Great Again.”
According to YouTuber Ray Marcel, who runs the “Fugitive TV” channel, Desronvil believes his political views may have contributed to him being targeted following the trial.
“[Desronvil] thinks he knows why he might be getting targeted. He’s a Republican. He is a black Republican. He has conservative views,” Marcel said in a video recounting the hour-long conversation he claimed to have had with the juror.
Marcel also alleged that Desronvil had been on a jury panel with people from the Democratic Party.
Desronvil’s attorney, Edward Paltzik, has publicly described his client as a Trump-loving patriot. In a post on X, Paltzik said Desronvil supports President Donald Trump and described him as a defender of common sense, liberty and sanity.
However, neither the information provided nor Marcel’s account confirms that Desronvil is a self-identified MAGA supporter. His reported Republican affiliation and support for Trump do not, on their own, establish that label.
Why Did Michael Desronvil Become The Holdout Juror?
Desronvil reportedly refused to side with the other 11 jurors in finding Lindsay Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. He said he believed the evidence was sufficient to establish that Clancy knew what she was doing and had planned the killings.
“As I tried to explain different possible theories during deliberation, I kept getting cut off as if I had doubts based on the evidence presented,” Desronvil said in his first public comments.
He added that he “didn’t have any doubts” Clancy was guilty of murdering her three children.
Clancy, 36, was accused of strangling her children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — with exercise bands at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home before attempting to take her own life.
After seven days of deliberations and three impasse notes, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in the case.
Desronvil is now represented by attorney Edward Paltzik, who announced that Ray Marcel is handling media inquiries for his client. Paltzik said no one else was authorized to speak for Desronvil.
Clancy is due back in court on September 29 for a hearing where the next steps in the case are expected to be discussed. Prosecutors could retry her, pursue reduced charges, negotiate a plea deal or drop the case.
