PV Sindhu penned an emotional post for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who celebrated his 76th birthday on Thursday. The two-time Olympic medallist reflected on her personal interactions with PM Modi while also highlighting the changes she has witnessed in Indian sport under his leadership. Government schemes like Khelo India and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) have given more support to Indian athletes. These schemes have helped young talent get better training and facilities, while top athletes get support to prepare for major international events.
“I’ve seen changes in Indian sport I could barely have imagined growing up. The support, the opportunities and the belief have meant so much. Across fields, a generation of Indians has learnt to take on the world’s biggest names and believe we belong alongside them,” Sindhu wrote on X.
She recalled some of her most memorable personal moments with PM Modi, including an ice cream outing and a light-hearted interaction between him and her former coach Park Tae-Sang.
