Yes. Not every episode of postmenopausal bleeding means cancer. After menopause, falling hormone levels can make vaginal tissues thinner, drier and more fragile. These tissues may therefore bleed more easily, including during or after sexual intercourse. That possibility, however, is precisely why women should not try to diagnose the cause themselves. A small amount of blood may seem insignificant, particularly when there is no pain or other obvious symptom. But the same symptom can have very different causes, ranging from tissue changes associated with menopause to conditions that require further investigation.
