According to PTI, the BJP won 4,179 of the 10,244 wards contested across 309 urban local bodies, against the Congress’s 3,613 — a lead of 566 wards. Comfortable, until you weigh the votes behind those seats. The BJP polled 35.18 per cent to the Congress’s 34.24 per cent, a gap of just 0.94 percentage points. Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra has seized on exactly that, claiming the ruling party’s vote-share lead is under one point and alleging that irregular ward delimitation worked in the BJP’s favour.
