Comer clarified he hasn’t spoken with McConnell personally, but said he stays in regular contact with McConnell’s team since their offices frequently collaborate on issues affecting the state. When asked directly whether he expects McConnell back, Comer didn’t hesitate. He said he expects it and is hopeful, adding that while he hasn’t talked to McConnell himself, he’s heard from staffers, several of whom originally hail from his own district, that getting the senator back for the Senate’s return is very much the goal.
