Thane: A woman passenger was injured after she fell from a crowded local train that had stopped at a signal between Mumbra and Diva railway stations in Maharashtra’s Thane district, officials said.
The incident took place on Thursday when the local train was halted briefly because of a signal. The train was reportedly packed with passengers at the time.
According to Thane Railway Police, the heavy rush inside the coach caused the woman to lose her balance and fall from the train.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media and was also broadcast by news channels. The footage shows several passengers packed near the doorway, with some appearing to hold on to the outside of the coach.
The train was reportedly travelling towards Dombivli from Diva when it stopped near a signal between Diva and Mumbra. It was positioned on a curved section of the track when the incident took place.

Senior Inspector Dharmendra Vishnu Aware of Thane Railway Police said efforts were underway to identify the woman and record her statement.
Meanwhile, Central Railway’s chief public relations officer said the woman had fallen from a train that was not moving at the time.
“The lady had fallen down from a halted train, and had minor injuries as per available information. Inquiry is being conducted on whether the lady had faced any altercation,” the official said.
Police are investigating the incident. Details about the woman’s identity and the exact circumstances leading to the fall are yet to be established.
