Nearly after a decade of speculations, Apple has finally launched its first-ever foldable iPhone, called iPhone Duo. The book-style flagship comes at a starting price of Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB storage variant. Apple has entered the foldable market, competing directly with Samsung. If you see both the devices, they are more or less constructed in a similar broad manner. These flagships open like a book, revealing a tablet-sized inner display. However, speaking of the size, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is slightly taller at 6.24-inches overall, as the width measures 5.64-inches when opened to 2.87inches when folded. While the iPhone Duo is slightly shorter but wider, at 6.48 by 6.46-inches when open and 3.31 by 4.64 when folded.
Moreover, the iPhone Duo is thicker at 11.3mm when it is folded and 5.2mm when open, compared to Samsung’s flagship at 8.9mm when closed and 4.1mm when it is opened.

The iPhone Duo offers a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR screen and gets the 5.4-inch outer display. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes with an 8-inch primary display and the 6.5-inch cover screen.

For optics, the Samsung Galaxy Z Gold 8 Ultra comes with a 200MP primary camera sensor. It also offers a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto shooter whereas the iPhone houses a dual 48MP back camera setup. The Apple’s foldable comes with 48MP Fusion Main with 2x telephoto crop shot along with a 48MP Fusion Ultra wide sensor.
Samsung also offers 10MP cameras on both the cover and inner displays, while Apple has a 12MP Center Stage camera on the outer display and an under-display FaceTime camera on the inner screen.

The iPhone Duo is powered by the Apple’s A20 Pro chipset which is baked on the 2nm process. The Apple device uses a six-core CPU and supports a seven-core GPU along with an enhanced Dual 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16GB of RAM. It gets an 8-core CPU, an Adreno 840 GPU along with a Neural Processing Unit.

In terms of battery, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 packs a 5,000mAh battery. While Apple claims that the iPhone Duo can manage up to 31 hours of local video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours on the external display.

The iPhone Duo comes at a starting price of Rs 2,99,900 for the 256GB variant and goes up to Rs 4,49,900 (2TB) while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra costs Rs 1,99,999 for the base 256GB variant and goes up to Rs 2,59,999 for 1TB variant.
