Palestinian Fashion Label Nöl Collective Was Ready to Shut Down — Olivia Rodrigo's Dress Order Changed That

Fashion is often dismissed as frivolous, but for one Palestinian collective on the brink of closing, a single commission became a lifeline. A dress made in Ramallah, the de facto administrative capital of Palestine, reached Olivia Rodrigo in Los Angeles, who wore it to open her Daisy Chains music festival. The baby pink minidress, hand embroidered with birds and flowers, came from Nöl Collective, founded by Yasmeen Mjalli, who works with artisans and women’s cooperatives across Jerusalem, Gaza, Ramallah and Bethlehem.
