This isn’t the first time Trump has pushed to relabel American geography. Back in January 2025, he signed an executive order titled “Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness,” which renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. That same order also reverted the name of Denali, Alaska’s tallest peak and the tallest in North America, back to Mount McKinley.
