While in other places and sports, new talents are seen as someone carrying the legacy of greatness, like in India, Tendulkar was seen to be Gavaskar, and Kohli to Tendulkar. It was a hope and excitement of the young talent doing big things and ensuring new records are set. That was never the case with Messi. The task for him was harder than anyone ever faced; it was not just goals, assists, trophies, but he had to become another Maradona. However, the task for Messi was always impossible, as in the eyes of an ordinary Argentine, it was never possible for anyone to be like Maradona.
