An individual named Swantantra Bhardwaj, who allegedly boasted about assaulting a student protester’s father during the paper leaks agitation at Jantar Mantar, has clarified the facts regarding the video and the controversy surrounding it. In the purported video, Bhardwaj is heard speaking about his attack on Sanjay Kumar, father of student protester Nishu Aazad, during the Jantar Mantar agitation over the NEET UG row in July. He purportedly claimed that a phone call from Delhi minister Kapil Mishra helped him avoid jail. After Swantantra’s claims, based on his interview, surfaced in the public domain, Nishu, whose father was assaulted, sought help from Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders, seeking justice. Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party leader Saurav Das also backed Nishu and announced that he, along with other CJP leaders, will visit the Parliament Street Police Station to demand justice for her.
