For the unversed, this aarti is dedicated to Krishna in his form as “Kunj Bihari” – the one who wanders and delights amid the kunj, or groves, of Vrindavan. It captures the playful, mischievous, and endlessly charming image of the young Krishna, the Bihari, or “wanderer,” who enchanted the residents of Vraj with his flute, his dance, and his divine leelas. For generations, this aarti has been sung at the culmination of Krishna puja, as devotees light the diya, ring the bell, and offer their prayers with folded hands, hearts full of bhakti.
