With one round remaining, Sindarov won the FIDE Candidates Tournament in April 2026, giving him the opportunity to challenge Gukesh D, the current world champion, for the championship. Sindarov’s ascent has been rapid. At the age of twelve, he attained Grandmaster status and competed for Uzbekistan in the 2022 Chess Olympiad in Chennai, where they won the gold medal. Due to his achievements, he is now regarded as one of the top players of the younger generation and an important part of Uzbekistan’s rich chess heritage.
