Few areas of medicine demonstrate the extraordinary pace of scientific progress as dramatically as HIV. From the first years of fear, stigma and therapeutic helplessness, we have moved to highly effective antiretroviral therapy (ART), once-daily single-tablet regimens, long-acting medicines and, now, the prospect of treatment taken only once a week or prevention with an injection just twice a year. Combining three molecules into making a single pill was invented by India based on its similar experience in making anti-Tuberculosis treatment where four molecules were combined to make fixed-dose combination. This was copied globally even by the MNCs, but without crediting India.
