Goa has taken a major step toward tackling illegal land acquisitions in the state. The government introduced the Goa Special Courts (Land Grabbing) Bill, 2026, in the Legislative Assembly, proposing dedicated Special Courts that will exclusively handle land-grabbing cases across Goa. The proposed law will have retrospective effect from June 24, 2025, with provisions to validate actions and proceedings already undertaken, provided they are consistent with the new legislation.
